Optidrive Pool is a fully digital, enclosed AC invertor designed to run off a domestic electricity supply. The drive can be used to exactly match the speed of the pump to the correct flow requirement, achieving significant reductions in energy usage as Invertek's Technical Manager, Kes Beech, explains;

"Ideally swimming pool pumps need to operate at two speeds – full speed for backwashing or cleaning of the filtration system, and a slower speed for normal, everyday filtration. Most domestic sized swimming pools are fitted with standard pumps that operate at full speed all of the time even when it's not needed, meaning precious energy is used unnecessarily."

Optidrive Pool has been designed for easy installation, without requiring any specialist electrical or plumbing work. In addition, because the motor is under less stress, maintenance costs can also be lowered as wear and tear on the parts is reduced.

As well as cutting energy, and running and maintenance costs, using a variable speed drive to control the motor can also dramatically reduce the noise of the pump - making swimming a far more peaceful pass time!

Using a drive also helps to ensure the water is cleaned efficiently by controlling the rate of flow and pressure as it passes through the filtration media.

Invertek introduces third generation HVAC drive at SPS

Invertek Drives will be unveiling the latest development to its extensive range of compact, easy to use variable speed drives, the HVAC Eco, on Stand 340 in Hall 3 at SPS IPC Drives 2013 taking place in Nuremburg from 26-28th November.

 

Optidrive HVAC Eco is designed to meet the demanding requirements of the HVAC and pumping industry, building on the functionality of Optidrive HVAC and utilising a new hardware design aimed at minimising harmonic distortion, a topic of increasing concern for both power supply generation companies and consumers.

 

HVAC Eco is a dedicated 'low harmonics' drive that uses the latest technology to minimise disruption (harmonics) of the incoming mains power supply which can be created by non-linear loads, such as AC drives. The third generation HVAC drive can reduce harmonic current distortion to below 30% iTHD (Total Harmonic Distortion), whilst also increasing efficiency by reducing the input current levels – leading to reduced life time costs.

INVERTEK achieves ISO 14001 accreditation

For those of us that do not know: - ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard for an effective Environmental Management System (EMS). The standard is designed to address the delicate balance between maintaining profitability and reducing environmental impact.

In order to secure ISO 14001 certification, Invertek was required to demonstrate its commitment to operating a sustainable EMS by documenting the steps it will take to ensure the company minimises its impact on the environment. All areas of Invertek’s business underwent a comprehensive audit to identify where improvements could be made and ISO accreditation requires regular audits which aim to ensure Invertek is implementing its Environmental Management System on a continuous basis.

In addition to the way Invertek’s business is run, its product range is also helping to reduce CO2 emissions; Optidrive variable speed drives can reduce energy consumption in a wide variety of industrial and HVAC applications by directly matching the speed of the electric motor with the requirement of the appliance.

In addition to ISO 14001 accreditation, Invertek also operates an ISO 9001:2008 accredited quality management system. All processes and procedures are documented and managed to ensure an auditable trail throughout all areas of Invertek’s business.
